6:00PM - 6:30PM Networking
6:30PM - 7:30PM Developing mobile applications for iOS and Android the Oracle way
By Frédéric Desbiens, Product Manager in the Oracle Application Development Tools Group
In this talk you'll learn how a combination of Java, component based HTML5 UI, and an MVC architecture allows developers to leverage their existing Java skills while transitioning to the new wave of enterprise mobile application development. You will also learn how the new Oracle Mobile Suite simplifies the development of mobile back-ends.
Mobile is a huge opportunity. Until now, taking advantage of it required to adopt non-Oracle technologies with significant learning curves. In addition, the fragmented nature of the marketplace meant that developers had to master two incompatible technology stacks just to cover iOS and Android, the two dominant mobile operating systems currently available.
In this talk, I will show you how Oracle approached this challenge. It is now possible to reuse your existing Java skills to build rich native applications that will run on both iOS and Android from a single code base. I will also explain how the new Oracle Mobile Suite, which combines a mobile development framework with Oracle's award-winning enterprise service bus, simplifies the development of mobile back-ends and increases developer productivity. Attend and discover how!

7:30PM - 8:30PM Developing Customer Portal with Oracle APEX – A Case Study
By Chandra Movva, Founder & President, Synerz Technologies Inc. and Ed Kloosterboer, IT Manager, EastGen Inc.
In this presentation, you will learn whether Oracle APEX would be the right choice for developing web based internet/intranet portals/applications. Also, you will learn about the methodologies adopted while developing the customer portal
Who said Oracle APEX is only for departmental applications? Probably it has started off as a small foot print without setting too much of an expectation. But it is not anymore! An artificial insemination agricultural co-operative based in Guelph, Ontario with 8500 active members (customers), wanted to build customer portal to better serve its members by providing up-to-date account information and facilitating creating 24/7 order and dispatch requests. With the help of Synerz Technologies, EastGen could implement the Member Login Access (MLA) internet portal in less time, less money but with more functionality. Since then the original adoption of APEX has fuelled the development of new applications and considering to implement all new internet/intranet applications and possibly converting Oracle Forms based applications using Oracle APEX.
Chandra Movva is a founder and president with Synerz Technologies Inc., a consulting and technology services firm specializing in delivering custom enterprise web, mobile and database applications/solutions primarily using Oracle technologies including but not limited to Oracle APEX.
